A rather fanciful view down a broad avenue toward the Port Phillip harbor and the Yarra, with sailing ships visible in the distance. With an Australian flag with 5 stars at the upper left. With the text on verso concerning the city and the discovery of gold, "La ville grandit rapidement et la decouverte des mines d'or de Ballarat, de Clunes, etc., y amena des milliers d'immigrants". (trans. The city grew rapidly, and the discovery of gold at Ballarat and Clunes attracted thousands of immigrants). 4 1/2 x 3 1/4". Seller Inventory # 17435
