Second Edition, Revised and Enlarged. [10], 288, [14] p.; 20 cm. Dark blue cloth with gilt spine title. Former owner's signature in pencil on front free endpaper: "L. L. Bernard, St. Louis 11/16/31." Possibly sociologist and psychologist Luther Lee Bernard (1881-1951), a professor of sociology at Washington University in St. Louis from 1929 to 1946. The author, Matthew Mark Trumbull (1826-1894), came from England to Iowa, where he served in that state's first General Assembly and fought in the Civil War. After the was he moved to Chicago where he became a recognized expert on the economics of the tariff. Scarce. In Very Good- Condition: minor loss at head of spine; rubbed; a few pencilled notations, possibly by L. L. Bernard; otherwise, clean and solid. Seller Inventory # 009724
