A colony is dead.
The evidence says the Kharak did it.
The only witness says the evidence is lying.
When the Veydran frontier colony of Aster Reach is destroyed, systems investigator Seren Vale is sent to reconstruct the attack. What she finds appears undeniable: Kharak weapons, Kharak ships, Kharak signatures. Every system tells the same story.
Then the rescue teams find Tylegn.
An injured Orakai salvager hiding inside the ruins, Tylegn is an illegal passenger, an occasional smuggler, a gifted mechanic, and possibly the least reliable witness Seren could have hoped for.
He is also certain the Kharak didn’t attack Aster Reach.
As retaliation pushes two powerful civilizations toward war, Seren begins finding things that should be impossible. Missing seconds in supposedly infallible records. Evidence that contradicts physical reality. Technology no known civilization can identify.
And Aster Reach isn’t the only place where it has happened.
Someone is lying.
Someone is watching.
And if Seren can’t uncover the truth before the first fleets collide, millions may die fighting a war neither side truly understands.
The Fracture is the first novel in The Fractured Five, an epic science-fiction mystery told across six books and five radically different civilizations, where every new perspective changes what you thought you knew.
Because sometimes the most dangerous lie isn’t the one you’re told.
It’s the one your own machines can prove.
