Mit Portraitfrontispiz in Schabkunstmanier (nach Johann Karl Auerbach gest. von Johann A. Jacobe, 1772). (6) SS. Geheftet. 4to. Der am 23. IX. 1684 in Barcelona geborene Ribera trat 1699 in den Dominikanerorden ein und war spanischer Gesandter in Rußland und Hoftheologe Kaiser Karls VI. in Wien. "Er nahm sich in den Streitigkeiten wegen des Erzbischofs zu Rezan, Stephan Javorskys Buch, 'Lapis, sive petra fidei' genannt, dieses Javorsky an, und schrieb, als Joh. Franz Buddäus eine 'Epistolam apologeticam pro ecclesia Lutherana' im Jahre 1729 herausgabe, dagegen: 'Responsum Ant.-Apologeticum ecclesiae catholicae contra calumniosas blasphemias Jo. Fr. Buddaei [.], quo petrae fidei, a Steph. Javorskio ad evertendum Lutheri pantheon jactae, repetitur ictus.' Wien 1731 (Eigentlich in Rußland gedruckt). Der Kanzler Pfaff schieb 1733 'Stricturas' dagegen, und das Inquisitionsgericht zu Barcellona verdammte dieses Responsum am 14. May 1733. Ribera ließ wegen dieses unglücklichen Erfolgs noch in diesem Jahre zu Wien eine Bittschrift in 4. drucken, er fügte [.] ein Schreiben über den Zustand der Religion in Moskau hinzu" (Jöcher/A. VI, 1996). 1772 so hochbetagt wie geistig rege ("mox nonagennis, vegetus") in Wien lebend, wurde er mit dieser Gedächtnisschrift zu Lebzeiten geehrt. Darin kommt das Dekret Karls VI. von 1736 zum Abdruck, in dem Ribera zum Hoftheologen und geistlichen Rat des Kaisers ernannt wird; den Schluß bildet eine Dankadresse Riberas an Maria Theresia. - Der Wiener Schabkünstler Johann Jacobé (1733-97) studierte Malerei und unter Schmutzer Kupferstecherei; 1772 ging er zur Schabkunst über: Das hier vorliegende Portrait Riberas ist sein frühestes bekanntes Schabkunstblatt. 1779/80 studierte er mit Staatsstipendium in London; "nach seiner Rückkehr nach Wien entfaltete Jacobé als anerkanntes Haupt der Wiener Schule eine fruchtbare Tätigkeit als Schabstecher und Lehrer der Schabkunst" (Th./B. As members of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB), the Verband der Antiquare Österreichs (Austrian association of antiquarian booksellers), as well as the Verband deutscher Antiquare e.V. (German association of antiquarian booksellers), we are bound by these organizations' code of ethics. A large proportion of our customers is made up of institutions, including renowned international universities and major state libraries. We keep contact with our private customers at international book fairs and through our online catalogues. You are welcome to visit us on our business premises from Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM. We are happy to take buying orders for the important book auctions in Germany and Austria, which we attend regularly. We dedicate special attention to the estates and archives of important personalities of the arts and sciences in European and world history. Through specially prepared archive catalogues we have been able to sell the archives of Viktor Léon (librettist, 1859-1940), Leo Fall (operetta composer, 1873-1925), Lotte Lehmann (singer, 1888-1976), Otto Tressler (actor, 1871-1865) and Max Reinhardt (director, 1873-1743), as well as the last privately owned important original manuscripts by Ludwig Wittgenstein (philosopher, 1889-1951). All offers are subject to sale and alteration without prior notice. All orders are processed in the strict order of their entry.
Unless described otherwise, the books are complete and in good condition. All material is adequately described and guaranteed genuine. Any item can be returned within two weeks of receipt without any obligation to the customer if unrepresented defects or bibliographic inaccuracies are found. We guarantee the authenticity of all autographs without time limit to the original purchaser.
We accept payment by personal cheque or bank. Shipping and handling are charged to the buyer. Legal domicile and venue is Vienna.
Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Antiquariat INLIBRIS Gilhofer Nfg. GmbH, Vienna, A, Austria, +43 14096190, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
Shipping terms
Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.
