Item description from seller

Quarto, original quarter calf, cloth, worn at edges of covers and corners, internally fine, uncut example, with the frontispiece portrait of the author. The long introductory essay places this work and its author in the larger context of Scots history and literature, with biographical material about Boyd, his relatives, and their distinguished lineage. Only 150 copies were printed, plus 6 on vellum, using the unique copy of the sole printing (STC 3446a) preserved in the Edinburgh University Library. This reprint itself is now rare.
