Paperback. Haunted by the past, Hermione Rodenberg retreats to the remote Scottish estate of Ardenmore, seeking solace from a world that has brought her only sorrow. But the ancient house, once home to her late husband Dominic Arden, is far from peaceful. Strange occurrences, a cryptic message, and whispers of a long-hidden secret draw her into a web of intrigue and danger. When a scrap of paper bearing a fateful date surfaces, Hermione is forced to question everything she thought she knew about the man she loved-and the crime that tore them apart. But Ardenmore is no sanctuary. The old tower by the sea harbors secrets, and the locals speak of lights in the night and a phantom motorcar. Inspector Mackay warns of smugglers and worse, urging vigilance. Yet the greatest peril may lie closer to home, hidden in the heart of the house and the memories she cannot escape. What really happened on the Flanders battlefield? And is Dominic Arden truly dead, or does his ghost-or something more corporeal-still walk the halls of Ardenmore? This item is printed on demand.
