The Forget-Me-Not: A Christmas, New Year and Birthday Gift. Published by Leavitt & Allen, New York, Circa 1860, 260 pp, full dark green gilt leather, 8.5 x 6 , 8vo. In fair condition. Moderate wear to extremities with scuffing to corners and edges. Corners rounded with board exposed. Scuffing over entire surface of stamped leather. Gilt remains bright albeit slightly rubbed. Spine abraded, ends slightly crushed. Presents beautifully. End papers slightly soiled, age stained. Front gutter tender. Presentation to Miss Sarah Smith By Edwin McFall of Co. H. 25th Regt. Madison February 13th, 1863 in old hand. Light offsetting from plates, scattered age staining and minor instances of foxing. Some instances of dampness staining as well. Lacking some tissue guards. One signature loose and a few pages detached. Binding shaken. All edges gilt. Penciling to rear end papers. Please see photos. A beautiful gift book presented by a Civil War soldier, Edwin McFall, to his sweetheart in 1863, and is so dedicated on the half-title page. McFall was in the 25th Regiment, he suffered repeated illnesses and was mustered out in 1865. He got married, had two children and lived another sixty years. Seller Inventory # COLI1860AIKB
