Add to basketIn a world where ancient artifacts hold the power to reshape nations and individual choices echo across generations, "Forged in Blood & Steel" presents twelve interconnected stories that chronicle the rise and fall of powers both political and personal.
Set in the Blood & Steel universe-a realm where human ambition trumps magic and consequences matter more than destiny-these tales span nearly seven decades of conflict, from the Rose Fever epidemic of 2145 to the legacy letters of 2212. Follow the intertwining fates of thieves and ministers, blacksmiths and traitors, as their decisions ripple through a continental authority struggling to maintain control over fractured territories.
Meet Peri Blackwood, the copper-haired con artist whose last masquerade becomes her first step toward authentic leadership. Witness Connor Alconi, whose refusal to execute civilians at the Battle of Valmark earned him the title "Traitor" but forged him into a legend. Follow Dr. Efram Odell as he discovers a blood anomaly during the Rose Fever epidemic that will fundamentally alter the balance of power. Experience Shori Ashford's thirteen-year obsession with a golden-eyed child that transforms her from idealistic administrator into the continent's most feared politician.
In "The Tinkerer and Her Father," witness Kitt Ota's final lesson from Kataero before the world calls her name-a goodbye that will shape her into either a savior or destroyer. "Blood and Brotherhood" explores Jin and Jonn's transformation in the underground laboratories known as the Ossuary, where enhanced humans are forged through systematic breaking and reconstruction. "Terms and Conditions" reveals the deal that Rhowan Cade strikes to put all the pieces in motion, while "The Blacksmith's Daughter" shows Aerin discovering what she's been hunting in a forge by a forgotten lake.
From the forge-lit discovery that launches a legend to the brotherhood forged in underground laboratories, from a father's final lesson to his daughter to the terms and conditions that set catastrophe in motion, each story builds toward a singular truth: in a world of limited resources and unlimited ambition, every choice has a price, and every victory comes with its own destruction.
This is political fantasy grounded in human reality-where gods and dragons matter less than the decisions that affect millions, where Rodaerim steel artifacts are finite and power comes with consequences, and where the most dangerous weapons are often the ones we create ourselves. The Continental Authority's bioengineering programs, the Freehold Alliance's resistance networks, and the mysterious enhanced humans known as Medai all collide in stories that explore how institutional power corrupts individuals and how resistance networks form in response.
"Forged in Blood & Steel" is both a complete collection and the foundation for a larger universe-perfect for readers who believe the best fantasy springs from recognizable human truths and prefer their heroes flawed, their villains complex, and their victories hard-won.
