Item description from seller
A very scarce copy of this novel from Irish writer James Prior, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Very scarce work. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Includes a frontispiece. Set in the early 1800s, this novel begins with a horseman riding through Sherwood Forest on his way northbound towards Nottinghamshire. Not far ahead of the rider is a carrier's van travelling in the same direction, but he soon spots a gang of masked men certainly about to commit an act of highway robbery. Written by Sir James Prior, an Irish surgeon and writer. Dated from the University of Edinburgh Libraries. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor wear to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with light loss to the extremities and spine. Sunning to the spine with the odd small closed tear to the panel edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light age toning to the extremities and endpapers. Bookseller's embossed stamp to the front endpaper. Very Good. …
