nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - A proud European volunteer, stripped of rank and name, marches under a burning African sun, bound by silence and obedience. The Legion changes a man. In the Foreign Legion is Erwin Rosen's stark french foreign legion memoir of soldier life in North Africa at the dawn of the early 20th century war era. With a journalist's eye and a deserter's honesty, he describes legionnaire training and hardship, brutal discipline, and the strange camaraderie of European soldier in Africa amid sand, fever and fatigue. The result is a classic military adventure book whose desert campaign experiences feel immediate, physical and unvarnished.More than simple battlefield reminiscence, Rosen's narrative probes identity, loyalty and disillusionment, giving modern readers a rare window into pre-First World War colonial service and the inner workings of France's most notorious army corps. Long prized by for fans of war memoirs and for military history readers, it stands as an essential entry in any French Foreign Legion classics collection and sits naturally beside any annotated military memoir edition you may favour. Often cited as a vivid world war era memoir in spirit and tone, it speaks both to casual readers seeking an absorbing true story and to collectors of serious military literature. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.…
