CHAPTER 1
Love
God's Light
I've seen God's light shining on me,
Nothing worries me anymore,
I'm not afraid,
Since I've seen
God's light shining on me.
I love with every blood
That flows through my vein,
It's a love I never had before,
Only God's love
Can let you feel this way.
To have a love like this
In your heart,
You've got to be pure and true,
If you're evil,
God's love you'll never receive.
Many pretend
To be pure and true,
God they will never fool,
The path they walk
Is always dark, so dark.
The Love of a Mother
Mother you are the source of my life
There is no other like you;
Mother you are the beauty of
The world in my sight,
I admire you with all my heart.
I watch you work from dusk till dawn,
Even in the dark;
I never heard you cry
Sometimes I wonder
How you make ends meet;
Mother you are so sweet,
Mother I prayed that some day
I may reward you,
For I know
You deserve the best;
As a child,
I watch you work
As if there is no tomorrow,
Mother I know I cannot repay you
For all the things that you do,
But all I can do is love you
With all my heart,
Mother you are my first love,
Mother you are everything to me.
Mother's Love
A mother's love
Is next to God's love,
A mother's pain
Could never be explained,
It's like God's love.
What a mother would do,
Just to put food on the table
For her child,
It's beyond human discretion,
For poverty is the worst kind of violence,
Mother faces it every day.
She is not a whore,
She is a mother,
She is your sister,
She can't bear the cry of a hungry child,
So she breaks the rule
To feed her child
No matter what;
Let God be the judge
For what she had done,
For every human being
Have their weakness,
If there is one
Without sin cast the first stone.
A Mother's Cry
Every time I hear,
The sound of the gun
The cemetery comes alive,
Tears flow to ease the pain
From, the heart of love ones,
That will never repair by hug and kisses.
Time could never erase the memory
Of a mother's pain,
That leaves a mark on
The inside of a womb,
A stretch mark that is visible to eyes,
Represent the life of a child.
Comfort can only
Be found in human strength,
That is driven by a force
That moves all human being,
It is the power of the Almighty,
A love that is infinite.
Black Woman
Black woman
Hold your head high,
You don't have to cry,
In the presence of God's sight,
You are equal to every woman in the world.
They can hold you down,
They can put you down,
One thing for sure
You are the mother of the world,
You are the mother of all.
Always remember
That you are beautiful,
Be proud to be black,
Don't let the past stand in your way,
Think positive!
Take pride in whatever you do.
Slavery you will never forget,
But don't you sit and cry,
I know it's hard
To forget the past,
Black woman you are a survivor.
A Mother's Love
Mother the first love
I knew is yours,
My first hug it's you,
My first kiss it's you,
The first time I eat,
It's your breast that feeds me.
I have been cuddled by you,
Embrace by your tender touch,
I smell your fragrance
That is so pure,
That I use to identify you
And communicate with you.
My first teacher;
I could not call you a bitch,
Look at you
As beautiful as our creator,
I could never call you a dog,
I grow to be prince and my sister a princess,
I am from the womb of a queen, not a dog.
To all mothers
Mama's Love
There is no love like mama's love,
She is working two jobs
To make ends meet,
But there is too much mouth to feed,
So ends never meet.
Mama would pretend
Everything is alright,
Just to make us happy,
Daddy is nowhere to be found,
Now I'm fully grown
I'll be your friend to the end.
So many things happen to mothers
That they hide from us,
Because they want their
Children's lives to be good,
Children, if mothers say it all,
Tear drops would fall forever.
A Woman
Don't look down on me
Because I'm a woman,
I've been a leader all my life.
You are just too close to see,
The things that I've been doing
All these years for you.
Just give me a chance and stand by me.
A woman can do anything she wants to do,
I've been waiting
For my turn very patiently,
I take care of you, never complained,
Now the game has changed.
I need you to support me,
Don't be afraid of what people think of you.
You, my husband, wake up each morning
To provide for us, that I appreciate,
I'm your minister of finance
The teacher of your children,
I'm also your minister of health,
When you're home,
I'm the one that gives you tender loving care,
All I need is for you to be there for me.
Mama Use to Say
Mama use to say,
"What you don't know
Will never hurt you,"
But I was too young to understand.
Now I'm fully grown,
I know the pain that mama's been through.
She would stay up late at night,
With her hands at her jaw,
And a look on her face,
That I could not erase from my memory.
The ocean and the sea
Don't have enough water in them,
To compare my love
For my mother.
Keep on running streams,
Keep on running rivers,
You can never catch up to this love,
I love you mother.
Respect Your Mother
If I am ugly,
All humanity is ugly,
For I am the mother
That gives birth to you,
If I am ugly
You're ugly,
For the womb is given to woman
By our creator and is blessed by Him.
From the womb come kings and queens,
Call not the woman,
That cares for you for nine months
In her womb, ugly,
Bitch or any degrading word,
Show respect to all mothers,
A mother is the one
That cares for you with unconditional love.
Mother
To every beginning
There is an ending,
Except for true love,
My love for you has no ending
For there is no beginning,
This love starts from within.
I know you love me
With all your heart and soul.
You will always love me
No matter what the circumstance is,
You said true love
Forgive and remains the same.
Mother, what we have
People only dream of,
Or read about it in story books,
We are blessed
To love each other this way.
Whatever path we choose,
My love remains the same for you.
Woman
As women, we are tired,
Tired of being told that we are weak,
Yet we keep the world going.
Tired of being told that we are weak,
Yet we hold the world together.
We are the trees of the earth,
Bless by God to bring forth children
Into this world,
Every man has a mother,
No matter how powerful he is.
Second Class Citizen
If women are second class citizens
Then, who are we?
First class? no!
It is impossible to be first class,
For we were born
From a second class citizen;
Let us put our love,
Into the eyes of the Almighty
And we will see all things
Before us clearly,
As the light that shines, with God's love.
The branch of a tree,
Is not better than the root of the tree,
Even though,
We look only at the flowers
That bloom on the tree
And not the roots that support it.
It is our mother that gives birth to man,
We look down on woman
We are the branch of that tree,
We lost the love of
Our own self and curse it.
The Greatest Love
Treat me with some respect,
That's all I want from you,
I'm a grown man;
All my life I've loved you,
I want you to understand,
That my love for you is indescribable,
Don't be mad because I'm in love,
Please be happy for me.
You know I'll always love you,
You teach me to love
And care for my fellow men,
You let me know that
The greatest love a man could give,
Is to give his life for his fellow men.
I cry, you hush me,
I pee you change me,
When I'm hungry you feed me,
When I'm cold you make me warm,
How could I ever forget?
You're the first woman I ever knew,
My love for you will always be the same.
Life Makes Changes
Life makes changes,
So you've got to be strong
When those changes come along,
Today seems so beautiful,
But tomorrow's changes may bring grief,
So you've got to be strong.
Sometimes life is so good
That, we forget who we are
Until those changes come along,
Then we all take the time
To look into ourselves,
We are only human.
Let us try and hold on to God,
For without God we are nothing,
He will be there
When, those changes come along
To guide you through,
So you've got to be strong.
A Pride Thing
I refuse to listen to my woman,
I refuse to do the things
She wants me to do,
Even though, I know in my heart
She is telling me the right thing to do.
Why can't we listen to our women?
Is it a man thing
Why we refuse,
Or it's a pride thing?
Why can't we listen to our women?
They see what we refuse to see.
If I listen to my woman,
Friends would say she rules me.
I hold on to what friends say
And now I am in trouble,
There are no friends around.
Now I know she is my friend,
Now I know she was too close to me
And yet too far,
I couldn't see that
What I need is right here with me.
A Heart Of Gold
You are beautiful as the sunset,
Every man would want
To rise up in the morning with you,
Just like the sun that shines
That makes my world go round,
You are a one of a kind.
She is smart, very strong and wise,
A woman of class,
She knows what she wants,
She has a heart of gold
To give to the man she love,
I could only hope it's me.
Her smile triggers
The flame of love,
That keeps burning deep inside of you,
That carries you through each day,
Can't get my mind off her,
It's just a happy feeling.
Hoping
Don't sit and hope for a better day,
Work toward a better day,
Every day will be the same,
If you sit down hoping
For things to come your way;
The farmer sows the seeds
And waits until the day of harvest,
If you don't sow any seeds
You will never have a harvest,
You just can't reap what you didn't sow.
Don't be foolish,
What you sow is what you'll reap,
You don't work,
You don't get paid.
Work toward a better day,
Make a positive move for tomorrow.
A Winner
In every race,
Everyone wants to be a winner,
No one wants to be a looser.
In my heart, in every race
The competitors are all winners.
Just by competing
You are all winners,
Some will sit aside and criticize,
But if you should call on their name
They would disappear.
Take courage you are a winner.
If you fall in that race
It's no disgrace,
Get up on your feet again,
Don't give up the fight
For tomorrow is another day,
No need to worry.
Affliction
Mama use to say
Affliction is along the way.
Today you're up, tomorrow you're down,
But don't you give up,
Take a rest, regroup and come again.
Some will say you've quit
While you take a rest,
But a surprise
Every now and then is good,
You've got to be strong.
In the race of survival
You will fall,
But you've got to pull yourself together,
Get up, stand up and move on,
That's what survival is all about.
Basic Necessity
Every man needs
A roof over his head,
Food on his table,
Clothes on his back,
But greed is a problem;
Some of us starving,
Basic necessity;
Where there is no hope
And lack of vision,
One man wants everything for himself,
Greed is a problem,
Some of us starving,
Basic necessity;
Life today
End tomorrow.
Will you take with you
All that you rob from the poor?
Greed is a problem,
Some of us starving,
Basic necessity;
Why are we so blind?
Life is a journey,
Let's walk it together,
One day it will end.
Greed is a problem,
Some of us starving,
Basic necessity;
Be Free
Tell me what you will do
When your past
Catches up to you?
Will you run?
Will you stay?
Will your heart set you free?
Tell me what you will do
When your past
Catches up to you?
Will you cry?
Will you lie?
Remember, all things will come to light,
Be careful of what you do in the dark.
Be Proud
To Be A Woman
Hold your head high,
Don't you look down on yourself,
Don't ever see yourself a looser
At any time at all,
How can you know the result?
And you didn't even run the race.
Give yourself a chance,
You can be a nurse,
A doctor or a judge;
Or even the next Prime Minister.
My daughter you are a princess,
My lady you are a queen.
Don't cry my lady,
Nothing can beat a try;
How can you say you are no good
When you bring forth
Queens and kings into this world?
Be proud to be a woman.
Yesterday
Why do you want to know
About yesterday?
Can you handle the past?
You cannot change the past,
What is done is done.
What I share with someone else,
Is in my past.
You cannot do anything
About yesterday,
I didn't know you existed,
Why do you want to know
About something that will hurt you?
What we have now,
Let us embrace it with love.
It's new for you,
It's new for me,
Let's make the best
Out of this new beginning.
Give me love and respect
And I'll do the same to you.
Why Worry
Why worry about
The things we cannot change?
Let the sun shine
And the rain fall from the sky,
Let the wind pass by,
Don't complain about
The things you cannot change.
Why do we cry?
Why do we laugh?
Even when you're healthy and strong,
Feeling good all over,
You're still on death's waiting list,
Think about it;
That's the way life is.
Today is all you've got,
Tomorrow is the unknown,
Live and love,
Enjoy your life day by day,
Don't let stress
Put you to rest,
Try to be at your best.
What a Price
Tears from the children,
Heart that is broken,
Voice that never heard;
Victim of circumstances,
Poverty and hunger,
Choices without consent,
Never asked to be born,
What a price to pay.
The seed we sow
That we will reap,
Let us work together
And plant good seeds,
And we will reap good fruit,
Treat the children with love
Night and day;
We've got to use love
To disarm hate,
We've got to use peace
To disarm war.
The youths of today
Will be the future of tomorrow,
Arm them with love,
So we can live in harmony.
We Get Lost
Why do we get lost?
When we know the way
Why do we use lies?
To hide the truth
Material things could not
Save us from death,
But yet we embrace it.
We sometimes kill to hold onto
What we cannot carry,
In the end
We will die and leave it all,
Why is it so hard to understand
That all things are an illusion?
The wind is felt but never seen,
Yet man is seen today
And gone tomorrow,
So why do we do the things we do?
Like greed and hate?
Tomorrow is never known.
My Best
I will do my best
Each day that is given to me,
I will do my best
When things are good,
And power is given to me,
I will do my best
When power is taken from me,
I will never let hate blind me.
Love and peace shall be my guide,
Truth shall be my eyes,
The love of humanity
That's my first responsibility;
I will do my best,
God shall be my guide.
True Success
Success cannot be based
On the wealth of the world,
That is our biggest problem,
It should base on love and kindness
Of all human beings who do good
To make this world a better place.
Greed and power
Through wickedness,
Just to have wealth
Is seen as success and honour;
People are saying it's the real world,
That's where we've gone wrong.
For the benefit of our children,
Let us find a way
To stop this madness,
We must teach
Our children about love,
For it is the only true success in life.
True Love
I tried to know
What true love is,
Only to learn that
I have to love myself first,
Before I can know what is true love.
I started to love me
For who I really am,
I appreciate life a day at a time,
And I discover true love
Lies deep within me;
I think about the things that I do
Before I do them,
I give love to receive love,
For what you do today in love
Will come back tomorrow in blessing.
The Wind
It touches me,
It keeps me alive,
Yet I can't hold it,
I can't do without it,
I'm in love with it,
It is precious to all living beings,
It cares for no colour,
It cares for no class.
It embraces all living things,
Cannot be bribed
Or controlled by anyone,
No man can live without it.
It can be gentle
Yet forceful at times,
That you're even scared
Out of your mind;
It brings rain
So trees can be alive,
It bring life to the ocean
And the sea,
It gives us food
That we cannot see,
A love that is true yet invisible,
But if you look you will see.
The Wrong Place
Children, love your parents,
Don't use hate as a tool.
Don't be a fool,
Give love and affection to them,
Don't despise them.
The Devil has a plan
To destroy love,
Let us take back love
Before it's too late;
Love is the only hope to defeat the enemy.
There is so much confusion
In this world;
We get confuse looking for love
In all the wrong places,
Then we blame our parents.
We should take things very slow,
Take it day by day,
Learn from others,
Try to listen more;
That's the way to go.
CHAPTER 2
Happiness
The Truth
The truth,
That's only what I see,
What I hear,
What I feel,
Can the truth be twisted?
Stop and think, it's a lie.
The truth,
It hurts,
It makes you cry,
But it lets you feel
Good and free,
No one can blackmail you.
The truth
Clears your mind,
You don't have to worry about anything,
You don't think about
What others have to say about you,
That's the truth.
The truth,
My conscience is clear,
My heart is free,
My thoughts are good,
My mind is sound,
My love is pure.
The Way
This world will never be at peace,
Until man has given up the lead
And let God be their leader,
This world will never be at peace,
Until man follows the way
Of the rightful leader,
The ruler of light and not darkness;
Open your eyes
And see the light,
For this light
Will show you the way.
Follow this way
And you will find love,
A light, that shines for everyone.
This world will never be
A safe place for you and me,
If we continue to live in darkness,
If we hate one another
We are living in darkness.
Fighting against each other,
We are living in darkness.
The Race of Faith
What did we bring into this world?
Nothing!
What can we take out of this world?
Nothing!
If we have food and clothing
That should be enough for us,
Many trying to get rich
Fall into temptation
And caught up in harmful desires.
Don't get ruin
Just to get rich,
Avoid the greediness
Of material things,
For the love of money is a source
Of all kinds of evil,
Some have been so eager to have it,
They fall into destruction.
Strive for righteous, godliness,
Faith and love,
Endurance and gentleness.
Run your best,
In the race of faith
And win eternal life
For yourself,
It is the true riches of all.
