Daredevils at Niagara Falls, including tight-rope walking, going over the falls, and shooting the rapids. Illustrations include Blondin cooking an omelet over Niagara, McDonell crossing Niagara Gorge with baskets on his feet, McDonell hanging from the tight-rope, Professor Andrew Jenkins crossing on a bicycle, Samuel J. Dixon crossing the rapids on a 3/4-inch cable, Dixon lying on his back on the cable, Charles S. Calverley and his wheelbarrow on the tight-rope, Maria Spelterini over the rapids, Graham and his barrel, and the last moment of Captain Webb, who perished after going over the falls without accoutrements. Other names include Sam Patch, Bellini, Stephen Peere, Professor De Leon, Joel Robinson, who commanded the boat Maid of the Mist, Steve Brodie, Charles A. Percy, Robert W.
