"Truth is in the immortality of the spirit."
On May 1, 1965, while the Soviet Union celebrated its power in downtown Tbilisi, a lone monk doused a massive 12-meter portrait of Lenin with kerosene and set it ablaze. As the face of the "idol" turned to ash, Father Gabriel preached to the terrified crowd: "Glory is not due to this dead man, but to Christ the God!"
Beaten until he sustained seventeen fractures and sentenced to death, Father Gabriel was saved by Divine Providence—only to be diagnosed as a "psychopathic personality" with the medical case number 666. Cast out of the priesthood and declared insane by the state, he took up one of the rarest and most difficult spiritual feats: the path of the Salos, a Fool for Christ.
This biography reveals the hidden life of Saint Gabriel of Georgia. The Orthodox Christian monk who feigned drunkenness to hide his holiness.
Inside, you will discover the extraordinary world of Saint Gabriel (Urgebadze):
• The Boy Who Built Churches: Meet the child who cleared boulders his strong uncle couldn't lift and built tiny Orthodox churches from pebbles while the world embraced atheism
• The Miracle Worker: Witness the "crazy" monk who commanded buckets of cement to fly through the air to build his church and made a car drive without an engine to save his spiritual children from bandits
• The School of Humility: Enter his tiny cell—a former chicken coop with gaps in the walls—where he taught nuns obedience by making them eat from dirty plates and shouting, "The cats stole my sausage!" during solemn services
• The Prophet of the End Times: Read his urgent warnings about the Antichrist, the number 666, and his promise that in the last days, "love, humility, and kindness" will save the faithful. Prophecies that are strikingly accurate and divine given they were made long before the technology by a monk who didn't have access to movies or TV.
• The Immortal Spirit: Learn of the modern-day miracles of his incorrupt blood and the healing oil that continues to cure cancer, blindness, and despair today
Open this book and meet the "Great Love of the 20th Century"—the Orthodox Christian Saint who promised to hear the prayers of all who call upon him.
