An unusually well-preserved interactive anatomy atlas that revives Alfred Mason Amadon's celebrated 1906 educational work through a series of full-color, multi-layered die-cut anatomical models. Rather than conventional pop-ups, the book employs articulated lift-flaps and nested fold-out plates that allow readers to peel away successive layers of muscles, organs, vascular structures, skeleton, and nervous system. Subjects include the torso, head and neck, ear, eye, digestive system, respiratory system, and skeletal anatomy. The illustrations retain the refined chromolithographic style of early twentieth-century medical atlases while being adapted into a tactile teaching tool suitable for students, educators, collectors of medical history, and anyone interested in anatomical illustration. Condition: Near Fine. Bright, clean pictorial boards with only faint shelf wear and light rubbing. Binding is square and tight with clean endpapers. Interior exceptionally clean with no ownership marks or writing observed. The elaborate layered anatomical plates appear complete and fully functional, with crisp folds, excellent color, and no tears, detached sections, repairs, or missing movable components visible in the supplied photographs. Very good+ dust jacket with pictorial boards. This is an authentic 1991 Gramercy Books reprint of the Bonanza edition, itself based on Alfred Mason Amadon's classic 1906 Atlas of Physiology and Anatomy of the Human Body. The copyright page confirms prior Bonanza publication and the number line "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3," indicating an early printing. Copies retaining all interactive fold-outs in this condition are increasingly desirable because many examples suffer from detached tabs, torn hinges, or missing layers after classroom use.…
