Focus Korean: Beginner Level 6B is designed for learners who are completing the advanced-beginner stage and preparing to move into intermediate Korean. Building on the foundation developed throughout the earlier Focus Korean levels, this book helps learners communicate with greater nuance, flexibility, and confidence.
Created by Suebeet Kim, a private Korean language instructor with over 20 years of teaching experience, Focus Korean combines clear explanations, practical examples, real-life dialogues, structured exercises, and cultural context to make Korean easier to understand and apply.
What You'll LearnIn Level 6B, learners move beyond basic sentence patterns and begin expressing more personal, nuanced ideas. The lessons focus on how Korean speakers refer to shared knowledge, describe changes, reflect on past experiences, express wishes, discuss specific situations, and talk about future plans and intentions.
Key grammar includes:
-
~잖아요 — referring to shared knowledge and reminding others of known information
-
~어/아지다 — describing change, development, and becoming
-
~던 — talking about past experiences, habits, and memories
-
~(으)면 좋겠다 — expressing wishes and hopes
-
~(으)ㄹ 때 — describing actions and situations in relation to time
-
~(으)려고 하다 — expressing intentions, plans, and future actions
-
Practical adverbs such as 계속, 유난히, 갑자기, 꼭, 대체로, 먼저, 마침, 아직도, and 함께
Each unit includes contextualized dialogues, vocabulary, clear grammar explanations, practical examples, exercises, and answer keys. Cultural insights help learners understand how Korean language and communication are influenced by relationships, social expectations, and everyday life.
Rather than simply memorizing grammar, learners are encouraged to recognize how expressions function in real conversations and how meaning can change depending on context.
Preparing for Intermediate KoreanBeginner Level 6B is the final stage of the Focus Korean Beginner series and provides an important bridge to the Intermediate levels. By completing this book, learners will be better prepared to express their experiences, opinions, wishes, intentions, and everyday thoughts with greater naturalness.
Whether you are studying Korean for personal enrichment, travel, academic goals, professional communication, or long-term fluency, Focus Korean: Beginner Level 6B gives you the structured practice and foundation you need to take the next step.
Complete Beginner Level 6B, strengthen your foundation, and continue your journey into Intermediate Korean—one level at a time.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
