Flute Music by French Composers for Flute and Piano is a classical repertoire collection celebrating the French flute tradition. Edited by Louis Moyse and published by G. Schirmer, it brings together recital and competition works by major composers linked to the Paris Conservatory. With its blend of lyricism, elegance, and technical challenge, this book is a valuable choice for flute students, teachers, and advancing performers.
The volume includes ten works for flute with piano accompaniment in clear standard notation for study and performance. Long associated with Paris Conservatory examination repertoire, these pieces remain central to advanced flute literature. The collection combines expressive melodic writing with technical demands that help players refine tone, articulation, agility, and musical interpretation in collaboration with a pianist.
The repertoire offers varied musical character, from flowing cantabile lines and tonal beauty to brilliant passagework, contrast, and expressive shaping. Widely used in recitals, auditions, and conservatory study, the book serves both as a practical learning resource and a lasting repertoire library for classical flautists.
