A practical, regionally focused gardening and landscape guide tailored to Florida’s climate and lifestyles, this revised edition by Tom MacCubbin blends seasonal advice, design principles, and plant recommendations for home gardeners across the state. The book opens with a year-round perspective on Florida gardening and moves through thoughtful chapters on landscape planning, foundation plantings, palms and the Florida look. Vines and ground covers, annuals and perennials, native low-maintenance selections, and edible landscaping are also covered. MacCubbin emphasizes making the most of small spaces with chapters on pots and planters and offers step-by-step guidance for planning a year-round vegetable garden. The text is richly supported by diagrams and illustrations that show property layouts, accent plant placement, and practical examples such as building walls and creating children’s play areas. Appendices provide useful resources, a Florida gardening guide, and planting maps that help readers match plants to local conditions. The book balances design thinking with hands-on techniques—how to choose accent plants, use filler plants effectively, and manage common garden critters—while also addressing lawns, tropical looks for temperate climates, and backyard menageries. The contents and acknowledgments indicate local roots and connections to The Orlando Sentinel, the revised cover photography and clear chapter structure make the volume suitable for both novice gardeners and experienced landscapers seeking Florida-specific solutions. Condition as photographed appears clean with intact binding and clear interior pages, this edition is useful for homeowners, landscape designers, community garden organizers, and libraries building regional horticulture collections. Also included are numerous vintage newspaper clippings by or about "The Plant Doctor" MacCubbin. Softcover edition. 150 pages. Dimensions: 8.5" by 11". Published by Waterview Press, .
