Kerwin writes a thoughtful reflection on history and morality while spinning an exciting tale of action and adventure. A real page-turner." -William White, author of Letters to an Unbelieving Friend: Why I Believe"The Flood is a worthy sequel to astronaut Kerwin's first prehistorical novel, Finding Eden. Kerwin continues the narrative of the growth of the early civilization's communities living off the ocean's harvest. The construction of the ark is a compelling read that benefits from astronaut Kerwin's astronautical and medical background when he describes the human and animal provisions needed to be incorporated into the ark. The Flood is also a complement to Genesis chapter 6, the wickedness of humankind, through chapter 9, the Covenant with Noah." -Eugene F. Kranz, fighter pilot, Failure is Not an Option, NASA Flight Director, author of multiple books"This book brings the world of Noah vividly to life, while powerfully reminding us of the seriousness of sin and humanity's urgent need to return to God. In an age that often forgets both judgment and mercy, this message could not be more timely." -Fr. Rick Arriola, Catholic priest"The Flood was such an unexpected, down-to-earth telling of the story of Noah's Ark, rooted in God and family. The relatable characters drew you in, and I think I almost held my breath when the rain started and the Ark was tested, with the future of humanity onboard! Best of all was day-to-day life on the Ark with humans and animals learning to survive and thrive." -Kristina Kerwin Dougherty"A thoughtful and exciting story about our ancestors' struggles long after Adam and long before Christ." -Rev. Earle Markey S.J., Captain of the basketball champions, teacher in High School and College, missionary to the Philippines, Dean of Students at the College of the Holy CrossJoe Kerwin was born in 1932 and grew up in Oak Park, Illinois. He received a B.A. in philosophy from Holy Cross College in 1953, and an M.D. from Northwestern University in 1957.He joined the Navy in 1958, became a Flight Surgeon that year, and a Naval Aviator in 1962, having married Lee Good of Danville PA in 1960. He was selected as a Scientist Astronaut by NASA in 1965 and flew on the first Skylab space station mission with Pete Conrad and Paul Weitz in 1973; their one-month stay was a duration record at that time and featured a spacewalk to pry up its stuck solar panel, which was a lot of fun. After serving in various NASA, Lockheed, and Wyle management positions, he retired in 2004. Lee died in 2021 and has reserved a seat for him in heaven if he makes it there. "The Flood is a magnificent sequel to Finding Eden. Kerwin writes a thoughtful reflection on history and morality while spinning an exciting tale of action and adventure. A real page-turner." -William White, author This item is printed on demand.
