First American edition, first printing. [x], 242, [1] pp. Bound in publisher's black cloth stamped in gilt. Fine, bookseller's ticket at rear pastedown, in a Very Good+ unclipped dust jacket with a few creases and short tears. Uncommon. A prolific author, Trevor devoted most of his career penning Cold War thrillers, however this remains his best-known work, as it was adapted into the hit 1965 action film of the same name directed by Robert Aldrich starring Jimmy Stewart and Richard Attenborough, and a 2004 remake.
