About the Author: Born in New Zealand, the late Peter Balin was a well-traveled author, teacher and artist who had lived in India, Italy, England, France, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, Belize and the U.S. His inspiration for the Xultun Tarot Deck came in 1975 during a visit by three friends who shared a tarot deck with him. It was Mr. Balin s first exposure to tarot, and he promptly dismissed it as nonsense. However, during the conversation, he was abruptly struck with a vision of a tarot deck with the Higher Arcana in Maya Indian attire, with all the cards joined together to form one large, meaningful image.
