Gift quality, 1st limited, numbered edition hardcover in russet cloth covered boards quarter bound with rich red Morocco leather fine binding with 5 raised bands and bright gilt title on spine. Tips and spine ends still sharp, tiny light colored spot at head of spine, three faint & tiny soil spots on frt board. Book is number 36 of only 250 limited, numbered deluxe editions. Russet and grey marbled endpapers, no names, tears or soil but endpapers and edge of page block are foxed. 339 pp text has a further 17 page section of results of fifty years' Classic Races, winners and their stats. This is a compilation work by 18 contributors on 20 detailed and informative chapters. Full color frontispiece by Lionel Edwards and 92 b/w photographs of the horses, owners and trainers of the hour provided by 3 different photographers and 6 different news publications of the day.
