Small problems rarely start out expensive. They become expensive when we overlook them.
A strange noise from your car. A tire wearing unevenly. A slow drain. A refrigerator that seems to run constantly. A warm electrical outlet. Water collecting near the foundation. A dryer taking two cycles instead of one.
These are everyday things we live with—and sometimes ignore until a small warning turns into a big repair bill.
Fix It Before It Costs You is a practical, easy-to-understand guide designed to help homeowners, renters, new drivers, young adults, and families recognize those warning signs early.
Drawing on decades of real-world mechanical, maintenance, and problem-solving experience, Jay T shares straightforward advice and Garage Wisdom to help you understand what your home and vehicle may be telling you.
Inside, you’ll learn how to:
- Recognize early warning signs in your car, home, appliances, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and more
- Read tire wear patterns and understand what they may be telling you
- Catch leaks, unusual noises, smells, vibrations, and other changes before they become expensive
- Know what you can safely check yourself—and when to call a professional
- Prepare your home with fire extinguishers, fire blankets, working flashlights, and escape plans
- Build a Storm Box and prepare for power outages, severe weather, and snowstorms
- Create simple monthly and annual maintenance routines
- Ask better questions before approving an expensive repair
- Choose practical gifts for homeowners, renters, young adults, and new drivers
You don’t have to be a mechanic, plumber, electrician, or professional handyman.
You just need to learn to notice when something changes.
Take care of the little things while they’re still little. This goes with life as well.
Send this book to your friends and family. They will appreciate it.
