INDIA FACSIMILES OF VINTAGE BOOKS OF THE RAJ IRISH UNIVERSITY PRESS 1972 5 BOOKS. Here for your consideration are five (5) hard cover books, published by the Irish University Press in Shannon, in collaboration with Barnes & Noble Books of New York, all dated 1972. These five hard cover books are identically bound, in burnt orange cloth a gilt rising sun on the cover and gilt titles on the spine. They all measure the same 5 ¾ x 8 ¾ inches. They are all facsimiles of earlier books dating back to the days of the Raj; the titles and details are as follows: - A Memoir of Central India, including Malwa and Adjoining Provinces, by Sir John Malcolm, in two volumes, originally published by Parbury, Allen & Co. of London, dated 1832. There are fold-out maps at the beginning of each volume, including a color map in Volume 2. - Echoes of Old Calcutta, being Chiefly Reminiscences of the Days of Warren Hastings, Francis and Impey, by H.E. Busteed, originally published by W. Thacker & Co. of London, dated 1908. There are two fold-out maps in this book. - Hindustan Under Free Lances 1770-1820 Sketches of Military Adventures in Hindustan During the Period Immediately Preceding British Occupation, by H.G. Keene, published originally by Brown, Langham and Co. of London, dated 1907. I found one fold-out map towards the rear of the book. - A Forgotten Empire (Vijayanagar) A Contribution to the History of India, by Robert Sewell, published originally by Swan Sonnenschein & Co. of London, dated 1900. There are a couple of fold-out maps in this book as well, including a colored one as Frontispiece. The covers are protected by a mylar dust jacket. Condition: All five of these books are in very good condition. The Sewell book, with the mylar dust jacket has well preserved hard covers; the others are a bit dust-dulled but generally clean and unbumped. The gilt titles on the spines are a bit tarnished with age and handling and the spines, again with the exception of the Sewell book, show light handling wear. Inside, the books are unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright throughout all the volumes. All the hinges are fully intact and the bindings tight and sound as well. These books are not ex-library or remainders. …
