London. Ward, Lock and Company. 1886. First Edition. Octavo (7 x 4 1/2). viii. 230 pp. including index; 14 pages of ads, several show illustrated fishing tackle. Frontispiece of the "Shannon" salmon fly. Four folding plates showing floats, rods, rod butts, ferrules, and fly rods. Numerous text illustrations of flies, lures, reels, hooks and tackle. The book is a thorough study of nearly all types of 19th century fishing tackle; it was published in at least three binding states, with no established priority. It's bound in the original brown cloth with gilt titles, decorations and colored devices. A handsome book. Spine lightly rubbed at the base, otherwise, clean, bright and very good.
