Paperback. Like many young men, Ken Barlow dreamed of wearing the iconic Jerry West silhouette that emblazons NBA jerseys. Equipped with the skill set, size, athleticism and discipline, Ken was on a trajectory to accomplish his dream. From McDonald's All American and University of Notre Dame graduate to an NBA first round draft pick, Ken Barlow was offered a guaranteed NBA contract. Yet, Ken vetoed his offer and took the path least chosen. He subsequently ventured on an amazing international career that led to numerous championships and leadership positions on and off the court. Ultimately, First Round Pick is about more than basketball; it is about life choices and being positioned to make decisions that will propel one to success, even if doing so means going against the tide or what others desire. By outlining his journey in a transparent manner, Ken Barlow encourages his readers to be prepared, courageous and authentic in their personal pathways and career choices.
