Otherwise pages are clean and unmarked with light foxing, in remarkably good condition. In 'First Principles', Herbert Spencer expounds the first systematic theory of evolution. According to Spencer, three principles regulate the universe, namely the Law of the Persistence of Force, the Law of the Instability of the Homogeneous and the Law of the Multiplicity of Effects. Herbert Spencer was an English philosopher, psychologist, biologist, anthropologist, and sociologist famous for his hypothesis of social Darwinism. Spencer originated the expression "survival of the fittest", which he coined in Principles of Biology (1864) after reading Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species. Seller Inventory # 036456
