Circa 1899. 8 x 10 inch typing paper, small tear in top edge, lower corner missing, otherwise very good condition, easily read. Margaret Deland (1857-1945) was an American novelist, short story writer, and poet. This is the typed manuscript of the beginning of a short story entitled "How Rosamund Made Up Her Mind". It was published in the Youth's Companion, a popular family magazine, in 1900. The manuscript has 6 minor corrections, and the following is handwritten at the top : "Submitted for publication by Margaret Deland, Kennebunkport, Maine".
