Print on Demand. This book, by the author of Beginners Latin, utilizes traditional, time-tested methods to present Latin study as a simultaneously direct and engaging experience. It presents Latin as a spoken language first and foremost, with an emphasis on imparting a deep understanding of the language's structure and syntax. Students engage with dialogues, questions, exercises, and songs to develop a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Unlike other beginner Latin courses that focus on rote memorization, this book encourages active thinking and comprehension from the get-go, laying the groundwork for lifelong Latin learning and enjoyment. By the book's conclusion, readers will have mastered 1000 Latin vocabulary terms and be equipped with the skills to translate sentences both into and out of it, empowering them to more fully experience the vast and storied world of Latin literature and culture. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. …

It is perforce assumed, if the reader is used for direct method teaching, that the instructor will be familiar with such general and specific usages as are set forth in our Beginners' Latin,' for example. There is so much, however, which is peculiar to this book that it has seemed best to print in a special Introduction the features to which the author would like to call atten tion.
