First Harp Book by Betty Paret is a beginner harp study collection designed to give new players a clear and graded introduction to the instrument. Published by G. Schirmer, this harp sheet music book combines simple exercises with folk melodies and short classical pieces, creating a practical resource for lessons and home practice. It is especially useful for students developing technique and for teachers seeking reliable progressive material.

The music moves step by step through one finger exercises, two finger patterns, interval studies, and three finger chord work, helping players build coordination, hand control, and confidence. Written in standard notation for harp, the pieces are short, approachable, and musically varied, drawing on folk traditions and well known melodies to keep practice enjoyable while supporting steady progress.

Across 40 pages, the book includes a selection of graded pieces suitable for guided study, independent practice, and early performance preparation. The progression encourages secure finger placement, balanced movement, rhythmic accuracy, and simple phrasing, making the collection a strong foundation for young learners, adult beginners, and teaching studios.
