The original slipcase is made from light brown paper-covered boards. The slipcase is Good, with light to moderate wear at the edges. Pages are fresh, crisp, clean, and unmarked - probably never read. Top edge gilt. NO owner's name or bookplate. First printing of the 1932 revised and enlarged edition. Illustrated with 29 reproductions of title page facsimiles, suppressed plates, rare dust jackets (including the earliest known from The Mystery of Edwin Drood), etc. 5 are printed on colored paper and 2 in color. Tissue-guarded frontispiece. Still an essential bibliography as it contains detailed descriptions of Dickens' writings, publication histories and background data that are not readily available elsewhere. Laid in this copy is a printed sheet, "A Message from the Author" concerning possible future updates. From limitation page: "This Edition is Limited to 750 copies, numbered from 1 to 750. It is printed on Strathmore Emissary paper. The type has been distributed. Number 9." Bound in the original pebble-grain maroon cloth (imitation leather).
