The Gulistan is considered a masterpiece of Persian literature and has been translated into many languages. The first chapter, which is the subject of this book, is titled ''The Manners of Kings'' and contains stories and anecdotes about the virtues and vices of rulers. Montriou's translation aims to make the content of the Gulistan accessible to English-speaking readers. The book also includes an introduction that provides background information on Saadi and the Gulistan. Overall, The First Chapter of the Gulistan is a valuable resource for those interested in Persian literature and the history of the Middle East. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.…
