Since the time of Hippocrates thousands of years ago, being a doctor has been more than a job. The office of physician has always been a pursuit of love and self-sacrifice. So how did this time-honored tradition fall to a point where you're reading a book called Fire Your Doctor? The answer is that doctors have been corrupted by a system that sold its soul. Would-be healers are now overshadowed by a heartless corporate monster that is greedy for profit and power. The evidence is everywhere, we've just ignored it. Insurance companies decide which medical treatments are covered, and which ones are not. Hospital conglomerates emphasize lucrative procedures while overlooking affordable prevention. Universities accept grant money from drug-makers, creating a conflict of interest in how physicians are trained. Since Big Pharma is a top financial supporter of most mainstream news outlets, will journalists really be unbiased toward the industry that pays their bills? During the COVID pandemic, the culture surrounding medical care became so toxic that it even divided families and separated life-long friends. Fundamentally though, this book is not a tombstone punctuating the death of healthcare. Rather, it is a roadmap to resurrecting our health, clearing away what is broken, and breathing new life into how we heal. Mainstream medicine offers quick fixes and symptom management, but this book goes deeper. Together, we explore why people get sick in the first place. From a place of learning and curiosity, we can rebuild our health from the ground up. …
