When you were a child, nothing held you back. You cried when you felt like crying, screamed when you were angry and laughed when you wanted to laugh. You were vulnerable, dependent and felt no shame about your need. You simply were who you were.
This doesn't last long. As we grow, human expectations and judgment do something to us that God never intended. We become ashamed of who we are and learn that it's wrong to express what we're feeling. But that isn't what God wants for us. He wants us to break free from the bonds that others have placed on us throughout our childhood and adult lives, and find our way back to the freedom we knew as little children.
In Finding Your Way Home, you'll see how you can leave the shame behind and recover the childlike joy that's so elusive - even to committed Christians. It all begins by truly understanding what it means to be a part of God's functional family. Because no matter how "good" or "bad" our families were, it's only in His family that we can find genuine wholeness and the freedom to be who we really are.
