Add to basketHome. It's something we leave early on, then yearn for the rest of our lives. And whether "home" is a compass-point place or a way of fully living in our own lives, our own bodies and our own spirits, finding where we "fit" is finding our true home.
After living 25 years in metropolitan Atlanta, Sheri Kling "headed for the hills" of Northeast Georgia realizing a long-held dream to live in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. In this collection of essays, Kling weaves a warm tapestry from the threads of a rich spirituality, nature and love of the rural community she's discovered in her new home.
"Sheri's message is inspiring for those who are seeking their true
journey and even those solidly on it. Her uplifting spirit and
earnest writing are scrumptious food for the soul."
~ Dale Harrison, former chair, Dept. of Communication & Journalism, Auburn University
"Sheri's writing is rich in meaningful metaphor which connects
the listener with spirit and soul. Her songs' lyrics and rich images
leave one feeling understood, and satisfied."
~ Dr. Jerry R. Wright, Jungian analyst
SHERI KLING is an accomplished singer, songwriter, guitarist, storyteller and newspaper columnist who weaves together powerful music and vivid stories to inspire people to find the stories at the center of their own lives. Described as a "natural Southern gal storyteller in the Lucinda Williams/Flannery O'Connor vein," Kling has released three music CDs to high critical praise, regularly writes essays for The Northeast Georgian newspaper, and her commentaries have been aired on Georgia Public Broadcasting. This is her first volume of essays.
In the fall of 2002, Sheri produced and released her first solo CD Let It Unfold to high, critical praise. Indie-Music.com said, "It's impossible to feel anything but good while listening to Sheri Kling's new release 'Let It Unfold.'" Bradenton (FL) Herald wrote, "Kling's voice - a clear, strong instrument of beauty - brims with the kind of lived-in experience that immediately makes one lean forward and feel a connection... I've never been so wowed by an unsigned artist as I have by Sheri Kling and her Let it Unfold release." In 2005, Sheri released two new CDs: the all-original Heartland and Passions & Prodigals. About Heartland, Southeast Performer wrote "here we find Sheri Kling at her best, performing songs of joy, hope, pain, loss, and celebration...This is a vast mix of songs of the South, a vibrant tapestry of musical material that touches on all the bases of relationships, new loves, and old loves never to be forgotten."
With her rich voice and distinctive guitar style, Sheri has been heard at such acclaimed venues as Nashville's Bluebird Café and has appeared on television with gospel singer Babbie Mason (host of "Babbie's House") and on "RadioLive" from WUWF. Sheri has shared the stage with such accomplished artists as Indigo Girls, Carrie Newcomer, Pierce Pettis and Shawn Mullins.
