We have all faced challenges, roadblocks, and situations in life that we believe are burying us. It is from these “trenches” that we are able to choose whether to remain hidden and implode or claw our way out toward a better day.
Find Me in the Trenches: A Recollection of Adversities That Lead Even the Most Vulnerable to Be Resilient explores how holding onto the things that we cannot fix allows the mundane moments in life to overwhelm us. Once understood, we can choose to rise above it all. The father-daughter relationship showcased in this book reminds us our parents are imperfect humans with their own traumas and tragedies to navigate.
Through the eyes of Arthur and Annette, we witness the dire consequences of suppressing one’s insecurities and how much freedom is experienced when Arthur and Annette can openly acknowledge those insecurities to each other, and ultimately give them to God. Arthur’s story of resilience in the face of adversity shows that vulnerability is, in fact, the highest form of strength and power. It is in the connection between Arthur and his daughter Annette we come to understand how transparency and trust between parent and child can foster an unbreakable bond over time.
