AN OLD PRO'S LAST CHANCE AT REDEMPTION. A YOUNG AMATEUR'S SHOT TO MAKE HISTORY.
Although they’re at opposite ends of their careers, Tyler Knox and Graham Sullivan share one important thing: they’re both outsiders in the elite world of professional golf.Tyler, at twenty, is taking his first tentative swing at stardom. Graham, at fifty-eight, is on the back nine of a long career that has held more heartbreak than hope.
Tyler found his love of golf early by watching "Sully" on television, but his working-class family couldn’t afford lessons. So Tyler watched Sully and taught himself to play with secondhand clubs. At such a young age, he’s already one of the best golfers in the country.
Graham, once so full of promise like young Tyler, has suffered a series of near-misses, both in life and on the course. Without a major title to his name, and age creeping up on him, Graham has had enough. He shocks the golf world by announcing that the upcoming White Oak National Open will be his final major tournament.
For Tyler, the White Oak National Open is his ticket to a life he and his widowed mother can only dream of. Major corporate sponsorships. Enough money for his first set of new clubs. For her first new house. A life of safety and security, free from the fear and the self-doubt that have long plagued Tyler.
Like living bookends in a career spent playing this most beautiful, most complex of all sports, Tyler and Graham will meet in the most important tournament of their lives. Both have much to learn, yet both have much to teach.
Win or lose, Tyler, Graham, and a roster of the world’s finest golfers will test their skills, and each other, in a daunting, relentless contest that rewards only excellence—the White Oak National Open.
USA Today best-selling author Ernest Dempsey brings his gift for suspense and high drama to the world of golf. Told with an insider’s love and eye for the game, The Final Round is a gripping tale about talent, adversity, and the ability to handle both.
