Paperback. In the small town of Upper Cupswater, Angela and Alan Godsick are preparing for their son Champ's ninth birthday. But what should be a simple celebration quickly spirals into something far stranger. A retired magician, a mysterious mango shipment, and a trick gone wrong turn their world upside down as reality begins to unravel in the most bizarre ways. As Angela and Alan scramble to make sense of the increasingly surreal events, they are drawn into a bewildering performance where nothing is quite as it seems. Can they uncover the truth behind the mysterious magician Rupert Russel before their family is lost in a world of illusions? Laced with absurd humour, whimsical dialogue, and strange but unforgettable imagery, this quirky and disorienting tale transforms the mundane into the extraordinary, leaving you to wonder where the line between everyday life and the utterly surreal truly lies.
