Add to basketAn unprecedented exhibition of the work of this masterful artist, this in-depth study was conceived, photographed and written by Ms. Lichtenfels. She presents 36 pieces in detail, a 20-year retrospective of her work and the step-by-step process of creating a fabric sculpture. Detailed instruction on creating your own doll! Artist Lisa Lichtenfels is acclaimed for pushing the boundaries of fabric sculpture. Photographs of Ms. Lichtenfels sculptures whether they be fantasy creatures, depictions of denizens of foreign cultures or portraits of celebrities such as Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand and Demi Moore are often mistaken for photos of living beings. Indeed, viewers of her figures frequently report having the peculiar sense of standing in the company of a living presence. First and foremost a gallery-in-print, this book is an unprecedented exhibition of Ms. Lichtenfels' work. Readers are invited to a personal tour with the artist through this exhibition, which features thirty-six of her most significant pieces in panorama, accompanied by her personal and technical notes on the creation of each of these sculptures. This astounding display is followed by Ms. Lichtenfels' photo essay, in which she demonstrates, step by step, the process that brings into being one of her latest magnificent fabric figures. The book concludes with a twenty-year retrospective of her work, in which she shares the development of her technique from her earliest soft craft-like works through years of improvement and the creation of early significant pieces, concluding with her thoughts on future work. With these fabric sculptures, Lisa Lichtenfels has created a new art form a fusion of her extraordinary technical talent and singular vision. This remarkable volume, conceived, photographed and written by the artist herself, is an important in-depth study of a unique artistic medium.
