Hennessy, Henry. "The Figure and Primitive Formation of the Earth, or Researches in Terrestrial Physics--Parts I & II. From: the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London 1846 and 1849, read December 17, 1846 and March 15, 1849, papers XXI and XXII. London, 1849, pp 495-510 and 511-547. Published in 1851. VG condition, extracted from a larger bound volume. "Hennessy analyzed the planet's solidification process, resulting gravity variations, and internal circulation, exploring how calorific and chemical changes shaped the early Earth's crust."--Wikipedia  "In 'Researches in Terrestrial Physics' (Philosophical Transactions, 1851) [the paper offered here] he argued from the figure and structure of the Earth and planets, that they were of fluid origin, and that a fluid nucleus at a high temperature was enclosed within their crust. He also wrote on meteorology and on climatology, deducing laws which regulate the distribution of temperature in islands. 'On the Influence of the Gulf Stream led to a request to report on the temperature of the seas surrounding the British Isles for the Committee on Irish Fisheries in 1870."
