A large tree is defined as reaching greater than 10 m tall or having a diameter of 20cm at breast height. The forests covered are closed evergreen and semi-deciduous forests on the Eastern Arc mountains and coast, the northern and southern mountains, and forests on the shores of Lakes Victoria, Tanganyika and Nyasa. The forests range from lowland groundwater and riverine forests to elfin mist forests on the highest peaks. The guide is illustrated with 321 plant illustrations, and 152 species distribution maps.".
