Color plates illustrate 856 Mexican bird species as well as several distinctive subspecies, and a black-and-white plate illustrating 18 additional species. The text reinforces and supplements the informational content of the color plates, with details about colors, patterns, size, distribution, habitat, behavior (including voice) in some cases, and other important features, for each of the more than 1,000 bird species which regularly occur in Mexico. This is the Second Edition from 1989, in hardcover.
