From the outcry of the ignored Fides Nostra became an evolution of thought. It began as the smallest seed where people were asked to share their truth; it was that simple. The purpose of Fides Nostra is expression of self. Each submission received was unique and no two writing styles or topics were the same. We received entries as close to home as Kansas and as far away as India. The ages of the artists spanned two decades. Their socio-economic demographics and their personal life experiences encompassed all stages of life. There wasn't one piece that mimicked anything in the socially acceptable, polite society realm of poetry. Fides Nostra cultivated into the written raw truth. The Addicted Project intentionally left it unfiltered and unrestricted.
The beauty of this written truth is so powerful that it may be painful for some to embrace. But please don’t let that stop you from reading further because this is a revolution, a revolt against a system of suppression. Fides Nostra is the outlet that the unheard crave. The Addicted Project is humbled to have had a hand in the publication of such unprecedented work. We merely provided the means, the people rallied to provide the much needed voice of truth, the voice of freedom, the voice of the future.
The Addicted Project believes that expression of self is a key to recovery from any struggle including; poverty, addiction, rape, domestic violence, child abuse, single parenthood, joblessness, and homelessness. The only way to gain a better understanding of who we are is to think, write, create, and exhibit. By using positive expression, we are able to further our personal lives and humanity as a whole. And don’t worry we will not let your voice go unheard!
An outcry of anguish by a generation being ignored.
A population screaming for an outlet, desperation in their voices, a need to be seen, heard, and recognized.
An unspoken war of the mind occurring that the majority isn’t even aware of.
Fides Nostra is my truth, our truth, YOUR truth. An awakening.
