The little grey Fergie is Britain's best-loved tractor, the light user-friendly machine that finally replaced the horse on farms. This highly illustrated account covers the full history of Harry Ferguson's tractor products from his pioneering work before the 1930s to the merger with Massey in 1957. The author has had access to fresh archive material and has interviewed many of the surviving men who were associated with Ferguson. The appeal of the Fergie lay in its lightness and utility, and also in the system of mechanized farming of which it was a part. Throughout the book, reference is made to the implements which lay at the heart of the system.

Learn all about Britain's best-loved tractor!
The Little Grey Fergie, as it affectionately became known, is the light, user-friendly machine that eventually replaced the horse on many farms. Its unique hydraulic system and three-point linkage brought tractors and their equipment together as a single unit for the first time.
The Ferguson Tractor Story is a highly illustrated account that covers the full history of Harry Ferguson's tractor developments. Explore Ferguson's history, from his pioneering work before the 1930s to the merger with Massey in 1957. Featured tractors include the early Belfast plough, the Ferguson-Brown and Ford Ferguson, and the iconic TE-20 (known as the TO-20 in America).
Author Stuart Gibbard has had access to fresh archive material and has interviewed many of the surviving men who were associated with Ferguson. Stuart Gibbard has won Tractor and Machinery magazine's award for the best British tractor book five years running.
The appeal of the Fergie lay in its lightness and utility, and also in the system of mechanized farming of which it was a part. Throughout the book, reference is made to the implements which lay at the heart of the system. You'll find useful specs, historic photos, and clear explanations of the Ferguson system. Concise and well-written, the story ends with the days of Massey-Harris-Ferguson and the FE35 tractor, but Ferguson equipment continues to be used and enjoyed today by farmers and tractor enthusiasts around the world.
An informational account of both the Ferguson tractor and Harry Ferguson himself—an interesting and talented man—The Ferguson Tractor Story is the perfect gift for any farmer, owner of a Ferguson tractor, and those interested in tractor history.
