Item description from seller

Wyndham, Horace. Feminine Frailty. London: Ernest Benn Limited, 1929. 352 pp. Publisher's black cloth very good. Bookseller's ticket "Clifford Elmer Books" to front pastedown. Foxing to pastedowns, endpapers, text block edges, and occasionally to top of pages, otherwise internally clean. $20. * An entertaining and scarce early 20th-century study of female criminology, historical transgressions, and social scandals. Wyndham chronicles various high-profile international legal cases, courtroom dramas, and biographical sketches of notorious women-including the high-society Victorian courtesan Laura Bell. The work combines detailed historical research with the author's trademark witty social commentary. Established in 1978, Clifford Elmer Books at 8 Balmoral Avenue, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, England, was owned and run by Clifford Elmer and Marie Elmer. Their business dissolved in 2013. One of their chief specialties was criminology.
