Item description from seller
Women have been represented throughout the ages in diverse roles. The present Indian women writers reflect life, the contemporary issues and changing human values. The emergence of women novelist of significance elevated the shift with increased focus on the predicament of women in the male chauvinistic society. The influential writings of the contemporary women writers are invariably concerned with depicting the women’s consciousness and their sensibility. The feminist consciousness which evolves in all the writings of women writers is the consciousness of victimization. The notable Indian women novelists whose works have been both critically and analytically discussed in the volume includes Mitra Phukan, Anita Desai, Easterine Kire, Arupa Patangia Kalita, Temsula Ao, Mamang Dai, Githa Hariharan, Kamala Markandaya, Jhumpa Lahiri, Kiran Desai and Jahnavi Barua. It is hoped that the book will certainly receive a warm welcome in the hands of the connoisseurs of literature and criticism.
