From the Back Cover
The third edition of this bestselling textbook on undergraduate controls continues to develop students' insight into control problems and methods for solving them. Because of the importance of design problems and their motivational effect on students, the authors emphasize design in addition to analysis techniques throughout the text. The book demonstrates the unifying principles behind numerous individual design techniques to assist students in creating their own problem-solving "toolbox." The latest edition of Feedback Control of Dynamic Systems reflects many of the recent advances in control system design including balanced coverage of frequency response and state space topics and an introduction to digital control. Computer exercise s have been added to allow the student to explore computer-aided problem-solving methods. The text contains numerous pedagogical improvements to help students organize and review the information in the book such as boxed highlights, margin notes, and a synopsis of design aids.
The authors recognize that feedback control is an interdisciplinary field with applications in almost every engineering discipline. The text presents examples and technologies from a variety of sources to show students the range and power of the subject. The second edition of Feedback Control of Dynamic Systems was the 1991 winner of the IFAC Control Engineering Textbook Prize.
Back Cover
Feedback Control of Dynamic Systems, Third Edition, retains its balanced coverage of modern and classical topics, the early incorporation of design aspects, and its discussion of analysis techniques; all hallmark features that established it as the authoritative controls text. Due to instructor demand, the Third Edition now contains expanded coverage of dynamics modeling and Laplace transform topics.
