But at thirty-two, his body finally betrays him. A catastrophic hip injury at Wimbledon forces him into a brutal surgery and an uncertain recovery, leaving the throne vacant for the first time in an era.Enter Nico Santoro: a nineteen-year-old Italian phenomenon with a lethal backhand, a neon-orange wardrobe, and a mountain of arrogance. Nico doesn't just want to win; he wants to dismantle the legacy Arlo built. As Nico storms through the rankings to become the youngest World Number One in history, Arlo is left in the silence of the Swiss Alps, a 'ghost' watching his own replacement crown himself king.Driven by a desperate need to reclaim his identity, Arlo embarks on a high-stakes comeback, culminating in the 'Blue Furnace' of the Australian Open. But as Arlo and Nico collide on the court, the lines between hatred and obsession begin to blur. Behind the closed doors of locker rooms and midnight practice sessions, a dangerous attraction ignites-one that threatens to expose the 'fault lines' in both their lives. When Arlo's reconstructed body begins to fail during the final rounds, Nico is forced to choose between the trophy he's always craved and the only man who truly understands the cost of greatness. In a world defined by winning at any cost, they must decide if their rivalry is a war to be won, or a partnership that will redefine the sport forever.…

About the Author
Marcus Andrews
Marcus Andrews is an author dedicated to exploring the intersection of identity, resilience, and romance through contemporary LGBTQ+ fiction. His work often centers on queer joy and the complexities of finding one's "chosen family" in the modern world.
A proud resident of Detroit, Michigan, Marcus draws deep inspiration from the city's storied architecture and the tenacious spirit of its communities. When he isn't at his desk, he can often be found scouting new local settings for his novels-from the neon-lit corridors of the Majestic Theatre to the quiet, sun-drenched reading rooms of the Detroit Public Library.
Marcus is an active participant in the vibrant Southeast Michigan literary scene, frequently engaging with local organizations like Affirmations and LGBT Detroit to advocate for queer voices in publishing. He believes that every person deserves to see themselves as the hero of their own story, a mission that drives every page he writes.
He currently lives in a historic Detroit neighborhood with his partner and a small library of first editions that is slowly taking over their living room.
