From the Author
"Your Fat Is Not Your Fault" covers weight-related issues not covered in other weight management books -- like female hormones (yes, it is easier for women to gain weight), binge eating and insatisble cravings for chocolate or salty foods, and many others.
When I wrote "Your Fat Is Not Your Fault," my goal was to explain to readers why guilt-based diet plans (you're eating too much fat...you're eating too many calories...you aren't exercising enough...) are doomed to failure for most people. They don't address the real issues of why you inappropriately gain weight.
Physicians and nutritionists know that weight management is complicated. I want you, the reader, to understand why it is so complicated, and how you can solve it.
If you are struggling with your weight, you may need to look at your estrogen levels, at your thyroid, at food allergies, at loss of brown fat thermogenesis, at childhood eating patterns that have made losing weight more difficult for you... In other words, you must learn about your body and what has dysregulated your internal regulatory mechanisms that work beautifully for thin people. I explain the different conditions that cause weight gain -- what it looks like -- and then offer the solution.
When you read "Your Fat...", don't just jump to the back of the book and start working on the menus (it is tempting!) Start at the beginning and do your own detective work. Once you understand your own issues and why you are overweight, you can solve your weight problem forever.
Please let me know if I can answer any of your questions. I'd love to hear from you.
