Hardback. Dust Jacket both in Very Good condition. Black cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Pictorial Dust Jacket. 160 Pages with many illustrations. Uniform brown tanning throughout. In this book the author describes the backgrounds and major incidents of fifty (50) aces in their flying careers and fills in the details of the backcloth of the conflicts against which their exploits shine so brightly. They were dubbed 'Knights of the Air' by First World War propagandists, and it was a most appropriate image for those young flying aces whose exploits over France demonstrated such skill, bravery and determination, In the Second World War, too, the competition for 'ace' status was just as intense, with day fighter and night fighter pilots vying for supremacy in the skies over Europe.
