What drives a woman to romanticize a murderer?
In Falling for Killers, author Alex Dear-Jones provides an unflinching sociological and psychological exploration into one of the most taboo intersections of human desire: hybristophilia.
This is not just a collection of crime stories. It is a deep-dive into the female psyche, examining why some women are magnetically drawn to men who embody danger, violence, and total control. From prison pen-pals to "killer fandoms," this book explores the thin line between extreme empathy and deadly obsession.
Inside this provocative study, you will uncover:
-
The Evolution of the "Bad Boy": Why biological instincts and social conditioning can turn "perceived power" into a romantic trap.
-
The Savior Fantasy: A look at the psychological need to "fix" the irredeemable and the emotional high of being "the only one who understands him."
-
Media & The Glamorization of Evil: How true crime culture and viral fame shape the way women perceive infamous criminals.
-
The Victim vs. The Romantic: How women cognitively bridge the gap between a killer’s brutal crimes and their own romantic fantasies.
Falling for Killers challenges readers to look past the headlines and understand the complex emotional and cognitive forces behind the obsession. It is essential reading for anyone interested in Women’s Studies, behavioral psychology, and the shadowy corners of human attraction.
